...with shoes in the house. I think it's gross.
I noticed that my little sign was not really all that noticeable and it is awkward to ask people to remove their shoes when you are trying to be welcoming too. (I wonder how the Japanese were able to be welcoming and create the custom of removing their shoes...hmmm.) So I decided to make a message rock. I have changed it a few times to read other things (i.e. "Boo!" at Halloween) but this is what is says most of the time.
I made it by spray painting a flat-ish rock flat black. I went to buy chalkboard paint at Lowes, but was NOT going to pay $10 for a can of it. (btw, I did find a small bottle for sale in the craft section of Walmart for about $4.50, but I had already used the black spray paint I already had).
When I want to change out my message, I just wipe it off with a damp cloth!
Anyone have any good ideas about how to welcoming-ly ask guests to remove their shoes in your house? I've tried the new socks in a basket by the door. They sat there for a year with no one ever touching them.
